Sugar and Cancer

There are currently over four million cancer patients in the United States.

Is it gross negligence or worse that doctors are not telling them to avoid sugar?

Sugar is the preferred fuel of cancer cells.

Any time there is excess sugar in the blood, which is what happens when you consume sugar, this feeds cancer cells.

Giving a cancer cell sugar is like throwing gasoline on a fire. Cancer patients must never consume sugar.

It has been known for more than seventy years that cancer cells have a completely different metabolism than healthy cells.

Cancer cells produce energy by fermenting sugar. On the other hand, healthy cells "burn" sugar with oxygen to produce energy.

Fermentation, however, is only about five percent as efficient as oxidation in producing energy. This means twenty times more sugar is needed by a cancer cell to produce the same amount of energy.

This is why controlling sugar levels in the blood is critical to controlling cancer. By starving the cancer cells of f…

22 Health Tips from Lester Roloff

Note: Natural health teacher Lester Roloff helped many people regain their health. He did it by encouraging them to use fresh vegetable juice as well as a moderate, predominantly plant-based diet that included moderate amounts of animal foods.

Roloff's health teachings recognized the body's need for a balanced diet, and he ate and told people to eat some animal foods like eggs and cottage cheese in moderate amounts.

Let's go directly to one of his two fine pamphlets on health, where he wrote: "For meat, eat fish, fowl, wild game, avocado, egg yolks, nuts, cheese, and cottage cheese, sunflower seed, and a minimum of other meats. Drink a lot of juices, always unsweetened, forty-five minutes to an hour before the meal, or a couple of hours after the meal." - from Food, Fasting, and Faith

And now for Lester Roloff's 22 health tips...

1. Eat uncooked food one day each week.

2. Fast at least three meals a week.

3. Do not eat fast.

4. Do not drink things real hot or real…

Obesity Kills

A study in the Annals of Internal Medicine has confirmed being overweight takes years off your life.

Two out of three Americans are now overweight or obese. Being overweight takes an average of three years off your life expectancy. Being obese is worse; it takes about seven years off your life.

Smoking exacerbates the problem; obese smokers died more than thirteen years sooner than average.

It has been known for a long time that overweight people have shorter life expectancies and they suffer more disease and disability. This is the first large scale study to measure exactly how many years are lost.

A 2005 study in the Lancet found obese women were biologically nine years older than women of normal weight. Anyone who is more than five pounds overweight will have measurable biochemical abnormalities. This means overweight people are diseased. There is only one disease - malfunctioning cells. These measurable abnormalities are the result of cellular malfunction caused by deficiency and toxi…

Vegetables and Stroke

Most people do not get enough potassium because they don't eat enough dark green vegetables.

A study in Neurology found people with the lowest intake of potassium had the highest risk of stroke. People taking diuretics to lower their blood pressure had an even higher risk of stroke because diuretics lower blood potassium levels. The researchers recommended people pay more attention to potassium intake, especially if they are on diuretics.

One problem the study did not touch on was our high intake of sodium. Americans not only eat too little potassium, they eat far too much salt, thereby upsetting the critical sodium/potassium balance in the body and contributing to every kind of disease.

Consuming less salt, more fresh vegetables and fruits is the obvious way to go.

An abnormal sodium/potassium ratio in our cellular fluid is a common denominator of disease in our society because we eat so much processed food. If you want more potassium, add BarleyLife® Xtra to your diet.

Sun Exposure and Cancer

An American study scheduled for a June release compared the health of some 1,200 female patients, some of whom took a vitamin D supplement, while others did not take it.

The number of patients who reduced their risk of cancer by taking a vitamin D supplement - 60 percent - was so unexpectedly high that some initially believed it to be a typographical error.

This study and many similar ones may force conventional medicine to re-evaluate its vitamin D recommendations. A deficiency in vitamin D figures into many diseases in addition to cancer. One researcher pointed out, "We don't really know what the status of chronic disease is in the North American population, until we normalize vitamin D status."
