The One Hundred Push Ups Challenge

Next month, my family and I will be taking a trip to North Carolina. While there, we will be helping my mother move into a smaller house. We'll also be spending a few days at Atlantic Beach.

Since my wife loves taking pictures during our vacations, it's time to start looking good! Otherwise, her beach pictures will come back to haunt me!

So I've decided to take the One Hundred Push Ups Challenge. The goal is to be able to do one hundred consecutive push ups by the end of six weeks.

You may be thinking, "But I can't even do ten push ups right now, much less a hundred!"

Yet according to this article, a forty year-old woman should be able to do sixteen push-ups and a man the same age should be able to do twenty-seven. By the age of sixty, those numbers drop to seventeen for men and six for women.

By comparison, Jack LaLanne set a world record by doing 1,033 push ups in twenty-three minutes when he was forty-two years old.

I've got a lot of work to do in order to catch up with the King of Push Ups. In the meantime, a good diet and the push up challenge should have me looking buff for the beach!
