If They Don't Get A Flu Shot, Then Why Should You?

Many people have been programmed to believe flu shots are heaven sent. It ain't so. Many flu shots are outmatched and flu strains are gaining new resistances. Maybe that's why 60% of American healthcare workers do not get the flu shot.

However, regular exercise, consuming fruits and veggies, and hand washing are good ways to fight both colds and the flu.

And it hurts a lot less than getting a flu shot too.

"I guess you know why I'm calling."

...I heard my mother say.

"Why?" I replied, though I already knew the answer.

"Your father has passed away."

It was January 23, 2007. Two years ago today, my father's worn out body finally gave in to the cancer. He was sixty-nine years old.

Dad died two months before his only grandson was born. I had hoped my father would hang on until the summer. We could then make the trip to North Carolina so he could see Brady. When my wife found out she was pregnant, she called my parents to tell them. When my father heard the news, he cried.

Paul Franz Eilers grew up without a father. His own father was killed in World War II. This led to many hardships, including time in a Nazi concentration camp as well as living in an orphanage. Consequently, Dad never truly heard his father say the word "son".

So two years ago today, I can imagine Dad finally seeing his father again. I bet they met at the pearly gates and embraced. And then he heard the words that he had bee…

Flu Shot Proven To Be Ineffective. Again.

Guess what? According to several articles and reports, the current flu shot doesn't work against the flu strain circulating this year. Again.

It's a crap shoot. Every year the flu is caused by several hundred different agents, with a vaccine against just one or two of them. You're rolling the dice and hoping there's a match between the flu shot you get and the season's flu strain.

I've never had a flu shot and don't plan to get one any time soon. I believe most flu shots are no better than a placebo. If you're taking good care of yourself, I don't think a flu shot is necessary or will do you much good.

By the way, to see what's in a flu shot, watch this short, humorous clip.

So how can you protect yourself from the flu?

The Main Reasons For Colds and The Flu

Although a virus (RNA) may be a contributing factor in catching a cold, it's a weakened immune system hurt by stress, a poor diet and not enough sleep that is the actual reason you get the infection.

Below are ways to avoid colds and even the flu:
Nine daily servings of fruits and veggies Avoid sugar Enough rest and sleep Lower stress levels Higher intake of omega-3 fats Exercise regularlyRegular hand washingWhole food supplements In addition, a runny nose is a sign that the immune system is working to rid your body of something. Most colds only last a few days and usually your body can handle them if you have not been abusing it.

Also, antibiotics do nothing for colds as they do not touch viruses. Instead, vitamin C can be used as an antibiotic. However, make sure you take enough to the point of saturation. You'll know you've saturated your body with enough vitamin C when you start having diarrhea.

Don't wait until you get sick before you do something about it. Choos…

No Promises. No Problems.™

Throughout this blog, I market several nutritional products. I take these supplements because I like feeling good and being healthy. I also want to avoid what happened to my dad, who died of cancer.

Having said that, I'm not a fortune teller. Since you're unique, I have no idea how concentrated nutrition will work for you or your family.

That's why we say, No Promises, No Problems™.

The only way to know for sure how any of these products will work is for you to try them.

Because in the end, all of the hype, pressure and promises are just not worth it.
