The results of a study, from University College London and published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, suggests we should be eating at least seven servings of fruits and vegetables a day.

Doing this will lower your risk of death by forty-two percent at any point in your life. Included is the reduced risk of heart problems, cancer and stroke.

"We all know that eating fruit and vegetables is healthy, but the size of the effect is staggering," says study leader Dr. Oyinlola Oyebode.

The research also showed vegetables have a significantly higher health benefit than fruit, but fruit still makes a real difference.
